Back from the Vet
Every time Olive comes back from the vet the result is the same; Hazel proceeds to hiss at her and punch her face. Not exactly a warm welcome after being poked and prodded at her checkup.
My only guess is that she must be bringing some of the unsettling smell of the vet’s office home with her, which would include other cats, dogs, rabbits, goldfish, llamas, emus and orangutans. I’m just kidding about the goldfish.
We were at Petco once and somebody brought a llama in. It was very strange to see it walking down the aisles.
That is really strange. Why would you bring in a llama?
Why not? 😀
Liu Hazel? Hazel Kang?
Finish him!!!
I see the same thing with my cats. I think they do smel funny when they get home. Part of it is the adrenaline/fear that they work up while at the vet & during the entire transport to and fro. None of my cats ever have liked getting in the carrier, in the car & going to the vet, and they must be sheding hormones & chemicals like crazy. Then they get home, and the cat that didn’t have to travel reacts to the chemicals, badly.
Ah, that makes sense. Neither Olive or Hazel like the ride over. Olive handles it a little better, Hazel has a complete meltdown.
Can’t say I blame Hazel, the Vet has some strange smells to it. I don’t like being there myself
It’s true. I think the worst part is the bill.
First thing at home, we towel the cat that was at the vet with a used towel or shirt from ourselves. Best to do that in a private room apart from other pets. It works wonders!
Awesome; thanks for the tip!
Metsa is right. We do that too. However, it’s funny to watch the other 7 circle the carrier. Then you get the looks between cats that I swear go something like:
“Dude, you’re back. You ok? They didn’t take anything important, did they?”
“I don’t know. I feel weird.”
“Too many drugs, eh?”
“Don’t mess with me man, I’ve been through a lot today.”
and my favorite….
“I feel violated.”
Our last vet issue was my mom’s fur baby had a bite on his ear that got infected. I blew his ear up like a balloon. They vet drained and stitched it, but now, it’s all funky because the infection distorted the cartilage. Now, I call him flopsy all the time. I don’t’ think he likes that. LOL
Oh no, sorry to hear about the ear problem! Surprisingly, that’s one issue we haven’t had yet with Olive and Hazel, which is surprising with all the battles they have.
